What is Life Coaching?
The coaching relationship is a trusting, confidential, and supportive partnership that provides you with the structure and motivation to accomplish what you’ve always wanted – or to explore and discover what’s out there waiting for you. It is an individualized way of uncovering who you are at your core, your values, what you want for your life, and how you’re going to create it.
Whether you’re focused on a life transition, career, health, prosperity, or relationships, coaching is based on the premise that making meaningful change in your life takes time, commitment, and support. Working together through phone conversations and assignments we collectively design, coaching will help you identify and achieve your goals and ultimately live a rewarding personal and professional life.
What can I accomplish with a life coach?
Depending on your individual needs, coaching could help you:

How does The Coaching Process work, and how can I learn more?
If you’re interested in learning more, I would be happy to answer any questions you have and give you a free, no obligation sample coaching session so you can experience coaching first hand.
Once we decide to work together, we will complete an in-depth foundation session to explore what is most important to you and what you’d like to gain from your personalized coaching process. Then, in 45 minute coaching calls, you will make progress toward your goals. Additionally, you will have access to unlimited e-mail support and occasional brief check-in calls.

As for the length of the coaching relationship, I encourage clients to make a commitment to themselves for at least 3 months of coaching; I find 6 months to be perfect for significant change. If at any point you aren’t getting what you want out of the relationship, we will re-design our alliance to meet your needs.
How is coaching different from therapy or counseling?
Unlike therapy or counseling, in coaching there is no problem to fix – this process is driven by YOU and your inherent ability to create the life you want to live. There will be little talk about the past because coaching is forward moving. Instead, our focus will be on creating action and learning in your present day life.
Similar to a therapist or counselor, I am trained to listen, observe, and customize my approach to your individual needs. Instead of giving answers, however, my goal as a life coach is to elicit solutions and strategies from you. Because I believe you are naturally creative, resourceful and whole, my job is to provide tools and support to enhance the skills, resources, and creativity that you have always had.
Portions adapted from the ICF’s definition of coaching.
What makes you a life coach?
I have completed training and am certified through CTI (The Coaches Training Institute), the oldest and most established coach-training program. The rigorous CTI curriculum is accredited by the ICF (International Coach Federation), the governing body of professional coaches.
In selecting a coach, it is important to choose someone who has both completed an accredited coach-training program and is a member of the ICF (and therefore accountable to their professional practice and ethics guidelines).
What makes you different from other life coaches?
Effective coaching employs a distinctive set of skills, and I am trained and certified by the oldest and most established accredited coach-training school, The Coaches Training Institute. Because life coaching is a relatively new profession and certification and licensing are not yet required, I believe it is especially important to work with a coach who has formal training and certification through an accredited coach training program.
The most basic thing you should know about me is that I love coaching. I firmly believe in the process. I have been a fascinated student of human behavior and strong believer in human potential for as long as I can remember, and I have often been told that I’m a natural for this type of work. Learn more about me here.
How much does it cost?
A sample coaching session is always free; I encourage you to schedule one if you are at all interested in the coaching process. At that time we will discuss pricing and I will answer any questions you may have.
In general, coaching is charged on a monthly basis and my most popular package consists of two 45-minute sessions. I offer one sliding-scale slot for a highly motivated individual who is unable to afford traditional coaching fees.
